The region is strategically located in the heart of the Mediterranean trade corridor. Its territory consists in the provinces of Frosinone, Latina, Rieti, Rome and Viterbo. Bordered by Tuscany on the northwest, Umbria on the north, Marche on the northeast, on the east bordered by Abruzzo and Molise, Campania located at the southeast and bordered by the Tirren Sea on the southwest, where is located the Vatican State.
